O king, whose noble deeds have eclipsed

the noble deeds of bygone men in the chronicles.

And O youth, when your hand rains upon

a land, through you we have no need of rain.

You have gone beyond the power of mortals and drowned

    all humankind in your bounty.

On the throne, a midmorning sun is seen in you,

its light veiling it from sight.

Drink with pleasure in a domed pavilion that has no need,

thanks to its lord, of the beauty of images.

Roses have been scattered along its sides,

as though they were a robe of striped cloth.

As though the sun of day, rising,

were illuminating the midmorning sun upon the moon.
