And a night when ill omens vanished,

And goblets and cups went round,

As though they were what the Magians worship.

The steadfast young man's reason is stolen away by it,

As though relief had driven him mad.

And a dwelling, inhabited and welcoming,

Where the well-guarded king was joined in drinking,

In a garden where the planted trees flourished.

    Its lovely branches sway,

As they sway, they seem like white camels,

Set swaying by travel at noon and before dawn,

Toward a young man who counts prudence among his foes.

Souls have been imbued with love for him.

The caged bird has praised him,

And the peacock strutted in his spreading tree,

With suns rising in its plumage.

O king whose envier is ill-fated,

And whose foe lies buried beneath the earth,

Live in ease and take delight; may no misery befall you,

Nor may ill omens draw near your good fortune.

For you are the planted shoot of generosity.

The pens and pages have acknowledged

That you are the leader, not the led.
