The oppressor dies amid his oppression,
The unjust in their injustice are rough
though he is watchful over himself.
And they are guarding themselves strictly

لم يُذهِبِ الكَيدُ ما يَغيظُ
He was enraged despite his scheming, yet
Angry at their own plots but
his scheming did not dispel what enrages him.
The plots do not take away what angers

So act, and do not rely on an abode
So work and do not depend on a house
where the lowly interloper gains favor,
That is attained by the wicked flatterer

And imprisons the glorious redeemer
though he is fortunate despite himself.
While he, despite it, is angry

The merciful are truly not equal
The truly merciful are not equal
to the harsh man with his thick chest.
To the rough, whose chest is harsh
