إني أعزيكَ لا أني على ثِقَةٍ

إني أعزيكَ لا أني على ثِقَةٍ

منَ البَقاءِ ولكنِ سُنَّةُ الدِّينِ

منَ البَقاءِ ولكنِ سُنَّةُ الدِّينِ

I console you, not because I am certain

Of living on, but because this is the practice of the faith.

فما المُعزَّى بباقٍ بعدَ صاحبِهِ

فما المُعزَّى بباقٍ بعدَ صاحبِهِ

ولا المُعَزّي وإن عاشا إلى حينِ

ولا المُعَزّي وإن عاشا إلى حينِ

For the consoled will not live forever after his companion,

Nor will the consoler, though both may live for a time.
