وليلةٍand a night طولُهاits length عليَّto me سَنَهa year
وليلةٍ طولُها عليَّ سَنَه
باتَspent the night بهاduring it الجَفنُthe eyelid نادِباًmourning وَسَنَهits slumber
باتَ بها الجَفنُ نادِباً وَسَنَه
And a night whose length, to me, was a year;
A night whose length seemed to me a year
The eyelid spent it mourning its slumber,
My eyelids spent it lamenting and complaining
بأربعٍwith four بينَهُنّamong them واحدةٌone
بأربعٍ بينَهُنّ واحدةٌ
كَسّيئاتٍlike sins وبينهاand among them حَسَنهa good deed
كَسّيئاتٍ وبينها حَسَنه
With four, among whom was one—
Of four nights, one amongst them
Like sins with a good deed among them.
Like bad deeds with goodness between them
