ووردٍand a rose جَنيٍّfreshly picked طالَعَتناappeared before us خدودهُits cheeks
ووردٍ جَنيٍّ طالَعَتنا خدودهُ
بنشرٍwith fragrance وبشرٍand with cheer يبعثانboth urge علىtoward الشكرِgratitude
بنشرٍ وبشرٍ يبعثان على الشكرِ
And a freshly picked rose—its cheeks appeared before us
The cheeks of a blossoming rose have dawned upon us
With fragrance and cheer that inspire gratitude;
With good news and tidings that inspire gratitude
وحفَّand encircled ترنجانٌlemon balm بهاaround them فكأنهاso they seemed like
وحفَّ ترنجانٌ بها فكأنها
خدودُcheeks العذارىthe maidens فيin مقانعهاtheir veils الخُضرgreen
خدودُ العذارى في مقانعها الخُضر
And lemon balm encircled them, as though they were
Orange blossoms surround it as if
Maidens’ cheeks within their green veils.
They were the cheeks of maidens behind their green veils
