إليك أشكو عيونا أنت قلتَ لها

إليك أشكو عيونا أنت قلتَ لها

فيضي فقد فضحتني بين جُلاّسي

فيضي فقد فضحتني بين جُلاّسي

To you I complain of eyes to which you said,

To you I complain of eyes that you told

"Overflow!" For they have exposed me among my companions.

To overflow, so they exposed me to my companions,

وما تركتَ عدًواً لي علمتَ به

وما تركتَ عدًواً لي علمتَ به

ألا وقد رقّ لي من قلبك القاسي

ألا وقد رقّ لي من قلبك القاسي

You have left no enemy of mine you knew

And you left no enemy of mine unknown to them!

Who has not felt pity for me because of your cruel heart.

Except that you have softened to me from your harsh heart,

فإن رضيتَ بأن القى الحِمامَ فيا

فإن رضيتَ بأن القى الحِمامَ فيا

أهلاً بذاك على العينين والراس

أهلاً بذاك على العينين والراس

So if you are pleased that I should meet death, then oh,

So if you are pleased that I meet destruction,

Welcome to it—upon my eyes and my head!
