سيوفيmy swords بَنيO sons of عَبدAbd (servant of) العَزيزِal-Aziz (the Mighty) وَماand not أَناI
سيوفي بَني عَبد العَزيزِ وَما أَنا
بِنابٍone who falters إِذاwhen اِلتَفَّتgathered عِداًfoes وَنَوائِبُand misfortunes
بِنابٍ إِذا اِلتَفَّت عِداً وَنَوائِبُ
My swords, sons of Abd al-Aziz—and I am not
one to falter when foes and misfortunes gather.
لعاًmay it recover! لِسُرورٍfor joy لَمdid not يَقُمcome forward مِنكُمfrom among you بِهِfor it
لعاً لِسُرورٍ لَم يَقُم مِنكُم بِهِ
مُحَييٍّone who greets عَلىover طولِthe length of المَدىthe span of time أَوor مُخاطِبُone who addresses
مُحَييٍّ عَلى طولِ المَدى أَو مُخاطِبُ
May joy revive! None among you has come forward
to greet or address it, all this long while.
وَلَمand did not تَكتُبواyou write حَرفاًa single letter إِلَيَّto me وَأَنتُمwhile you are
وَلَم تَكتُبوا حَرفاً إِلَيَّ وَأَنتُم
ثَلاثَةُthree كُتّابٍscribes وَماand not أَناI كاتِبُa scribe
ثَلاثَةُ كُتّابٍ وَما أَنا كاتِبُ
And you have not written me a single letter, though you are
three scribes, while I am no scribe.
