قَمَرٌa moon وَأَثوابُand the robes الظَلامِof darkness تظِلُّهُshade him
قَمَرٌ وَأَثوابُ الظَلامِ تظِلُّهُ
وَيَخفىand he hides إِذاwhen ماan emphatic particle الصُبحُdawn أَحدَقَgazes intently حاجِبُهits gatekeeper
وَيَخفى إِذا ما الصُبحُ أَحدَقَ حاجِبُه
A moon, shaded by the robes of darkness,
Who hides whenever dawn’s gatekeeper gazes intently.
