ترى الأباريقَ والأكواسَ ماثلةً

ترى الأباريقَ والأكواسَ ماثلةً

وكلُّ طاسٍ من الإبريز مُمتثِلُ

You see the ewers and the cups arrayed,

I see the jugs and cups displayed

And every bowl of pure gold standing ready.

Each ebony bowl doing as bade

كأَنّها أنجمٌ يجري بها فلكٌ

كأَنّها أنجمٌ يجري بها فلكٌ

للراحِ لا أسدٌ فيها ولا حَمَلُ

للراحِ لا أسدٌ فيها ولا حَمَلُ

As though they were stars borne along by a celestial sphere

Like stars coursed by cosmic sphere

Of wine, with neither Leo nor Aries within it.

Blown by the wind, no lion or ram appear
