فأينَ الزِّيجُ والقانو

فأينَ الزِّيجُ والقانو

نُ والأَرْكنْدُ والكَمَّهْ

نُ والأَرْكنْدُ والكَمَّهْ

Where, then, are the Zīj and the Qānūn,

Where is astronomy, law and governance

the Arkand and the Kammah?

And where is algebra, geometry and philosophy

وأينَ السِّندُهندُ البا

وأينَ السِّندُهندُ البا

طل الجدْوَلُ هل ثَمَّهْ

طل الجدْوَلُ هل ثَمَّهْ

And where is the Sindhind, with its false

Where is Indian mathematics and the astrolabe

table? Is there anything there

Where are the tables and charts - are there any traces

سِوَى الإفكِ على اللَّهِ

سِوَى الإفكِ على اللَّهِ

تَعالى مُنْشِرُ الرِّمَّهْ

تَعالى مُنْشِرُ الرِّمَّهْ

but lies against God,

Other than nonsense about God the Exalted

exalted is He, reviver of decayed bones?

Who created confusion

إذا كان أخو النجْمِ

إذا كان أخو النجْمِ

يرَى الغيبَ بما ضَمَّهْ

يرَى الغيبَ بما ضَمَّهْ

If the man of the stars

If the brother of a star

sees the unseen through what he has gathered,

Can see the unseen that contains it

فلِمْ ذا يطلُبُ الرزقَ

فلِمْ ذا يطلُبُ الرزقَ

طِلابَ العاجزِ الهِمَّه

طِلابَ العاجزِ الهِمَّه

why, then, does this man seek sustenance

Why then does he seek provision

like one weak in resolve?

Like a helpless, anxious pauper

وهذي الأرضُ قد وارتْ

وهذي الأرضُ قد وارتْ

كنوزاً عِدَّةً جَمَّهْ

كنوزاً عِدَّةً جَمَّهْ

And this earth has concealed

When this earth has already been filled

many abundant treasures.

With countless buried treasures

فلا واللَّهِ ما لل

فلا واللَّهِ ما لل

ه خلقٌ يحتوي علمَهْ

ه خلقٌ يحتوي علمَهْ

No, by God, God has no

By Allah, God's creation cannot contain His knowledge

creature that encompasses His knowledge.
