سوادُblackness المرءِof a man تُنفدُهُuse it up اللياليthe nights
سوادُ المرءِ تُنفدُهُ الليالي
وإنْand although كانتْthey are تَصيرُcoming إلىto نَفادِan end
وإنْ كانتْ تَصيرُ إلى نَفادِ
The nights wear away a man's blackness,
A man's darkness is depleted by the nights
though they too are coming to an end.
Though it verges on depletion
فأسودُهُso his black يصيرُturns إلىto بَياضٍwhiteness
فأسودُهُ يصيرُ إلى بَياضٍ
وأبيضُهُand his white يعودُreturns إلىto سَوادِblackness
وأبيضُهُ يعودُ إلى سَوادِ
So his black turns to white,
His darkness turns to whiteness
and his white returns to black.
And his whiteness returns to darkness
