بَداappeared الهِلالُthe crescent moon جَديداًnew
بَدا الهِلالُ جَديداً
وَالمُلكُand the reign غضّfresh جديدُnew
وَالمُلكُ غضّ جديدُ
The crescent moon appeared anew,
The new crescent has appeared
and the reign is fresh and new.
And the kingdom is renewed
ياO نِعْمَةَblessing اللَّهِGod زِيدِيincrease!
يا نِعْمَةَ اللَّهِ زِيدِي
ماas long as كانَthere is فِيكِin you مَزيدُfurther increase
ما كانَ فِيكِ مَزيدُ
O blessing of God, increase,
O blessing of Allah, increase
as long as you have room to grow.
What was already plentiful in you
إِنْif كانَthere is لِلْصَّوْمِfor fasting فِطْرٌa breaking of the fast
إِنْ كانَ لِلْصَّوْمِ فِطْرٌ
فَأنتَthen you لِلدَّهْرِfor all time عِيدُa festival
فَأنتَ لِلدَّهْرِ عِيدُ
If fasting has its breaking,
If fasting has its Eid
then you are a festival for all time.
You are for all time a celebration
إمامُan imam عدلٍjustice عليهِupon him
إمامُ عدلٍ عليهِ
تاجانِtwo crowns بأسٌvalor وجودُand generosity
تاجانِ بأسٌ وجودُ
A just imam, upon whom rest
The imam of justice wears
two crowns: valor and generosity.
On his head might and nobility
يومَon the day of الخميسThursday تبدَّىappeared
يومَ الخميس تبدَّى
لناto us الهلالُthe crescent moon السعيدُauspicious
لنا الهلالُ السعيدُ
On Thursday there appeared
On Thursday the day appeared
to us the auspicious crescent moon.
The crescent moon so blessed
فكلَّso every يومِday خميسٍThursday
فكلَّ يومِ خميسٍ
يكونwill be للناسِfor the people عيدُa feast day
يكون للناسِ عيدُ
So every Thursday
So every Thursday
will be a feast day for the people.
