يا غافلاً ما يَرى إلا محاسِنَهُ
ولوand if دَرَىhe knew ماnot رأىhe saw إلاexcept مَساوِيهِhis faults
ولو دَرَى ما رأى إلا مَساوِيهِ
O heedless one who sees only his own virtues,
O heedless one who sees only its beauty
And if he knew, he would see only his faults.
If he knew, he would see only its defects

Look into the world's inner reality, for its outward face
Look to the essence of this world, for its façade
Is where every beast's gaze roams.
Is where the eyes of beasts do roam and play
