يختلسُhe snatches الأنفسَlives باستلابِهْby his seizing
يختلسُ الأنفسَ باستلابِهْ
كلبٌa hound يُلقَّىis given الوحيَsignals منfrom كلَّابِهِhis dog-handler
كلبٌ يُلقَّى الوحيَ من كلَّابِهِ
He snatches lives away by seizing them.
He steals souls with his sorcery
A hound who receives signals from his handler.
A dog who is inspired with madness
يَمونُhe provides for أهلَthe people of البيتِthe house باكتسابِهْwith his gains
يَمونُ أهلَ البيتِ باكتسابِهْ
أهبَبْتُهI spurred him on فانصاعَand he darted off فيin إهبابِهِhis being spurred on
أهبَبْتُه فانصاعَ في إهبابِهِ
He provides for the household with his gains.
He deceives the people of the house with his gain
I spurred him on, and he darted off at my urging.
I lured him and he yielded to his folly
كأنَّهas though he were الكوكبُa star فيin انصبابِهْits downward plunge
كأنَّه الكوكبُ في انصبابِهْ
أوor قبسٌa flame يُلقَطُis plucked منfrom شِهابِهْits blaze
أو قبسٌ يُلقَطُ من شِهابِهْ
As though he were a star plunging down,
As if he were a planet in its setting
Or a flame plucked from its blaze.
Or a meteor's glowing ember seized from its blaze
