اللّهُGod جَرَّدَunsheathed للنَّدىfor generosity والباسِand valor
اللّهُ جَرَّدَ للنَّدى والباسِ
سَيفاًa sword فَقلَّدَهُthen girded with it أَباAbu العَبَّاسِal-Abbas
سَيفاً فَقلَّدَهُ أَبا العَبَّاسِ
God unsheathed, for generosity and valor,
God adorned dew and armor
a sword, then girded Abu al-Abbas with it.
With a sword that He bestowed on Al-Abbas
مَلِكٌa king إِذاwhen اسْتَقْبَلتَyou face غُرَّةَthe radiance of وَجهِهِhis face
مَلِكٌ إِذا اسْتَقْبَلتَ غُرَّةَ وَجهِهِ
قَبضَtook الرجاءُhope إِليكَtoward you روحthe soul of الياسِdespair
قَبضَ الرجاءُ إِليكَ روح الياسِ
A king—when you face his radiant countenance,
A king whose radiant face
hope comes to you and takes the life of despair.
Revives hope and banishes despair
وَجهٌa face عليهِupon it مِنَfrom الحياءِmodesty سَكينَةٌserenity
وَجهٌ عليهِ مِنَ الحياءِ سَكينَةٌ
وَمَحَبَّةٌand love تجريflows مَعَwith الأنفاسِthe breaths
وَمَحَبَّةٌ تجري مَعَ الأنفاسِ
A face upon which rests the serenity of modesty,
A face of shy modesty
and love that flows with every breath.
And affection flowing with each breath
وإِذاand when أَحَبَّloved اللَّهُGod يوماًone day عَبْدَهُHis servant
وإِذا أَحَبَّ اللَّهُ يوماً عَبْدَهُ
أَلقَىcast عَليهِupon him مَحَبَّةًlove لِلنَّاسِfor the people
أَلقَى عَليهِ مَحَبَّةً لِلنَّاسِ
And when God loves His servant one day,
When God loves His servant
He casts upon him love among the people.
He casts love for people upon him
