كريمٌgenerous علىdespite العِلَّاتِadversities جَزلٌabundant عطاؤهُhis giving
كريمٌ على العِلَّاتِ جَزلٌ عطاؤهُ
يُنيلhe bestows وإِنْand even if لمnot يُعتَمَدْhe is approached لنَوالِfor a gift
يُنيل وإِنْ لم يُعتَمَدْ لنَوالِ
Generous despite adversity, abundant is his giving.
Generous to those in need, abundant his gifts,
He bestows even when not approached for a gift.
He gives even when not asked, for granting's sake.
وماand not الجُودُgenerosity مَنone who يُعطيhe gives إذاwhen ماemphatic particle سألتَهُyou ask him
وما الجُودُ مَن يُعطي إذا ما سألتَهُ
ولكنَّbut rather مَنone who يُعطيhe gives بغَيرِwithout سُؤالِa request
ولكنَّ مَن يُعطي بغَيرِ سُؤالِ
And generosity is not in one who gives when you ask him,
Generosity is not just to give when asked,
But in one who gives without being asked.
But to give freely, without need to make a request.
