سَرى طَيْفُ الحَبيبِ على البِعادِ

لِيُصْلِحَ بَيْنَ عَيْني والرُّقادِ

The beloved’s phantom came by night, across the distance,

to reconcile my eyes with sleep.

فَباتَ إلى الصَّباحِ يَدي وِسادٌ

So until morning, my hand remained a pillow

My life be ransom for the one who restored my soul to me,

يُواصلُني على الهِجْرَانِ مِنْهُ

وَيُدْنِيني على طُولِ البعادِ

وَيُدْنِيني على طُولِ البعادِ

It communes with me despite his estrangement,

It keeps me company despite his estrangement,

and draws me near despite the long separation.
