    O my eyes, how you have deceived my heart

    And laid it open to the anguish of love!

    O glance that kindled upon my liver

    A fire in whose heat I met my end!

    حَسْبي مُكابَدَةُ الجَوى حَسْبي

    Leave my heart's burning grief for me to endure;

    Enough for me is enduring this anguish—enough for me!

    My eye, through its baleful glance, has inflicted

    Upon my heart what has no cure.

    Your wrongdoer is whoever wrongs you; and sometimes

    The kneeling places of mangy camels infect the healthy.
