طَلَعَتْshe rose لَهُfor him وَاللَّيلُwhile the night دامِسْpitch-black
طَلَعَتْ لَهُ وَاللَّيلُ دامِسْ
شَمْسٌa sun تَجلَّتْshone forth فيamid حَنادسْdeep darkness
شَمْسٌ تَجلَّتْ في حَنادسْ
There rose for him, while the night was pitch-black,
A sun that shone forth amid deep darkness.
تَخْتالُshe sways proudly فيin لِينِthe softness of المجاthe gar- (first part of المجاسد)
تَخْتالُ في لِينِ المجا
سِدِ-ments (completes المجاسد) بَينَbetween حارِسَةٍa female guard وحارِسْand a male guard
سِدِ بَينَ حارِسَةٍ وحارِسْ
She sways proudly in soft gar-
ments, between a female guard and a male guard.
ياO مَنْyou who بِبَهْجَةِby the radiance of وَجْهِهِhis face
يا مَنْ بِبَهْجَةِ وَجْهِهِ
يَسْتَأْسِرُsurrenders himself captive البَطَلُthe hero المُمارِسْbattle-seasoned
يَسْتَأْسِرُ البَطَلُ المُمارِسْ
O you, whose radiant face
Makes the seasoned warrior surrender!
لمnot يَبْقremains مِنْof قَلبيmy heart سِوَىexcept
لم يَبْق مِنْ قَلبي سِوَى
رَسمٍa trace تَغَيَّرَhas changed فَهْوَso it is دارِسْeffaced
رَسمٍ تَغَيَّرَ فَهْوَ دارِسْ
Nothing remains of my heart but
A trace, altered and now effaced.
