قَلْبي لهُ سُلَّمٌ والوجهُ مُشتركُ
Among the crescent moons is a full moon with no orbit.
Among the crescents a moon that has no orbit
My heart is his ladder, and the face is shared.
My heart has surrendered to it and my face is shared

وذَلَّ قَلْبي لعَينَيْهِ فَيَنْتَهِكُ
When he appears, my eye plunders his beauties,
When it appears my eyes steal its beauty
And my heart yields to his eyes, so he ravages it.
And my heart melts for its eyes so it violates

I bought his affection on credit and with worldly goods;
I bought its affection with my religion and life
But he betrayed me—against whom, then, can I seek redress?
But it betrayed me so who can I blame

Sons of Harith, restrain your gazelle’s glances,
Spare me, O Bani Harith, your amorous glances
For every one is a snare for my whole heart.
For my heart has shared in all of it

O Harith, may I not be struck by a calamity from you
O neighbor I do not flirt with any of you
That neither commoner nor king before me has encountered.
No previous lover or king has experienced this
