عُذْراً إذا أعْطَيتَ نَفْسَكَ قدْرَها
What has harmed my plea before you—what has harmed it?
Pardon me, if you accord yourself your due worth.

Look at the breadth of the lands and their length.
And are you not the most generous of their people, and the most benevolent?

Far be it from your generosity to make my plea's path rugged.
My trust in your generosity has smoothed its rough ground for me.

No noble man reaps the sweetness of praise
Until he tastes the bitterness of requests.
