ومدَّand it stretched أطنابَهُits tent ropes علىover عَمَدِهْits poles
As for guidance, it has become straight after its crookedness,
Guidance regained its straight path,
And stretched its tent ropes over its poles.
Stretching its ropes upon its pillars.
وانتعشَand revived الدينُreligion بعدَafter عَثْرتهِits stumble
واتّصلتْand became joined كفُّهُits hand علىto عَضدِهْits upper arm
Religion revived after its stumble,
The religion revived after its stumbling,
And its hand was joined to its upper arm.
His power reconnected to its support.

وجُبَّand was severed رأسُthe head of النِّفاقِhypocrisy منfrom كَتَدِهْits shoulders
Unbelief was shaken from its foundations,
Disbelief was shaken from its foundations,
And hypocrisy's head was severed from its shoulders.
And the head of hypocrisy was severed from its trunk.

ماwhatever عدَّcounted كفُّthe hand of الخلافِrebellion منamong عددِهْits forces
Through the conquest of Carmona, which outstripped
With the conquest of Gerona which preceded
Whatever rebellion's hand had counted among its forces,
All that the palms of discord had counted.

Through the good fortune of Umayya's most illustrious in ancestral honor,
Through the good fortune of the nobility of Umayyads,
And their finest benefactor to those who seek his bounty.
And the best of them feeding its dependants.
إمامُan imam of عدلٍjustice علىover رعيَّتهِhis subjects
أشفقُmore compassionate منthan والدٍa father علىtoward ولدِهْhis child
A just imam over his subjects,
The just Imam ruling over his subjects,
More compassionate than a father toward his child.
More compassionate than a father for his son.
أحياhe revived لناfor us العدلَjustice بعدَafter مِيتَتِهِits death
وردَّand restored روحَthe spirit of الحياةِlife فيinto جسدِهْits body
He revived justice for us after its death,
He revived justice for us after its death,
And restored the spirit of life to its body.
And returned the spirit of life to its body.
فيin كلِّevery يومٍday يزيدُhe adds مكرُمةًa noble deed
ويَقصرُand falls short الوصفُdescription علىat مدَىthe extent of أمدِهْits reach
Each day he adds a noble deed,
Every day he increases in generosity,
And description falls short, even at its furthest reach.
And description falls short of his unlimited lifetime.
فأمسُهُfor his yesterday دونَbelow يومهِhis today كرَماًin generosity
ويومُهand his today فيin السَّماحِmunificence دونَbelow غدِهْhis tomorrow
For his yesterday falls below his today in generosity,
Yesterday was inferior to today in nobility,
And his today in munificence falls below his tomorrow.
And today is surpassed by tomorrow in generosity.

God be praised for Abd al-Rahman—what a king,
To Allah belongs the servant Abdurrahman,
Wearing generosity's robe, binding it firmly!
Wearing the garment of generosity, believing in Him.
