لقدindeed فُجعَwas bereaved الإسلامُIslam منهُin him بناصرٍof a champion
لقد فُجعَ الإسلامُ منهُ بناصرٍ
كماjust as فُجعَwere bereaved الأيتامُthe orphans منهin him بوالدِof a father
كما فُجعَ الأيتامُ منه بوالدِ
Indeed, Islam was bereaved of a champion in him,
just as the orphans were bereaved of a father in him.
بكتْهُwept for him اليتامىthe orphans والأيامَىand the widows وأَعوَلتْand wailed
بكتْهُ اليتامى والأيامَى وأَعوَلتْ
عليهِover him الأسارَىthe captives خائباتِdisappointed المواعدِthe promises
عليهِ الأسارَى خائباتِ المواعدِ
The orphans and widows wept for him, and wailed
over him the captives, their promised hopes dashed.
