ودَّعتَyou bade farewell فاركبْso ride جناحَwing البَينِseparation فيin سَفَرهْits journey
ودَّعتَ فاركبْ جناحَ البَينِ في سَفَرهْ
هذاthis الفراقُparting وهذاand this الموتُdeath فيin أَثرِهْits wake
هذا الفراقُ وهذا الموتُ في أَثرِهْ
You have bid farewell; so ride the wing of separation on its journey.

This is parting, and this is death in its wake.

مَنwho يشتكيlaments البينَseparation لاnot يشكوlaments غوائلهُits calamities
مَن يشتكي البينَ لا يشكو غوائلهُ
قلبٌa heart يراكَsees you إذاwhen ماemphatic particle غِبتَyou were absent عنfrom بَصرِهْits sight
قلبٌ يراكَ إذا ما غِبتَ عن بَصرِهْ
Who laments separation? Its calamities are not lamented
He who complains of separation complains not of its hardships
by a heart that sees you when you are absent from its sight.
A heart sees you though you've gone from its sight
