The spirit of generosity is ailing amid the robes of eminence,
The breeze of dew amid the heights of glory, a growing youth
appearing in a body worn out for glory's sake.
Who tends a body destined for renown and aims it well,
مَاnot أَنتَyou وَحْدَكَby yourself مَكْسُوّاًclothed شُحُوبَpallor ضَنىًwasting illness

You are not alone in wearing the pallor of wasting illness;
Not you alone wear mourning's gloomy robes,
rather, because of you, we are all wasted and pale.
But we with you are clad in sorrow's garb.
يَاO مَنْone who عَلَيْهِupon him حِجابٌa veil مِنْfrom جَلالَتِهِhis majesty
وَإِنْand even if بَدَاhe appears لَكَto you يَوْماًone day غَيْرَnot مَحْجُوبِveiled
O one upon whom lies a veil of his own majesty,
O veiled in your majesty, though sometimes you may seem
even if he appears to you one day unveiled.
To lift your covering and appear unhidden,
أَلْقَىmay he lay عَليكَupon you يَداًa hand لِلضُّرِّof affliction كاشِفَةًdispelling
كَشَّافُthe great dispeller ضُرِّaffliction نَبيِّprophet اللَّهِGod أَيُّوبِAyyub
May He lay upon you a hand that dispels affliction—
A hand is reached to you, revealing harm,
He who dispelled the affliction of God's prophet Ayyub.
As when the Prophet Job's affliction was revealed.
