كأنَّ التي يومَ الوداعِ تَعرَّضَتْ
هِلالٌa crescent moon بَداappeared مَحْقاًwaned علىdespite أنَّهُthat it is تِمُّfull
هِلالٌ بَدا مَحْقاً على أنَّهُ تِمُّ
It is as though she who came into view on the day of farewell
As if the one on the day of parting turned
were a crescent appearing waned, though full.
A new moon appeared extinguished as though full grown
