اللَهُGod يَعلَمُknows أَنَّthat ماwhat
بِيَديin the hands of يَزيدَYazid لِغَيرِهِbelongs to someone other than him
God knows that what
God knows that what I have
is in Yazid's hands belongs to someone else,
Would benefit another more
وَبِأَنَّهُand that he لَمdid not يَكتَسِبacquire
هُit بِخَيرِهِthrough his goodness وَبِميرِهِand through his provisioning
and that he did not acquire
And that he did not gain it
it through his goodness and his provisioning.
Through his own good or merit
لَوif أَنصَفَtreated fairly النَفسَthe soul الخَؤوtreacherous (word continues)
نcompletion of 'treacherous' لَقَصّرَتit would have curtailed مِنfrom سَيرِهِhis course
Had he dealt fairly with the treacherous soul,
If the deceitful soul were fair
it would have curtailed his course;
It would shorten its journey there
وَلَكانَand would have been ذَلِكَthat مِنهُfrom him أَدnearer (word continues)
نىcompletion of 'nearer' شَرِّهِhis evil مِنthan خَيرِهِhis good
and that, from him, would have been nearer
And that would lessen the evil
to his evil than to his good.
More than increasing the good
