لَعَمرُكَby your life إِنَّنيindeed I لَأُحِبُّI truly love داراًa house
تَحلُّdwells بِهاin it سَكينَةُSakina وَالرَبابُand al-Rabab
By your life, I do indeed love a house
By your life, I do love a house
Where Sakina and al-Rabab dwell.
Where peace and lute music dwell,
أُحِبُّهُماI love them both وَأَبذُلُand I give freely جُلَّmost of ماليmy wealth
وَلَيسَand is not بِلائِميat all blaming me فيهاconcerning it عِتابُreproach
I love them both and freely give most of my wealth,
I love them both. I'd give my all
And no reproach concerning it censures me.
To have them. None reproach me. Well,
وَلَستُand I am not لَهُمto them وَإِنand even if عَتِبواthey reproach مُطيعاًobedient
حَياتيthroughout my life أَوuntil يُغَيِّبنيconceals me التُرابُthe dust
And I will not obey them, even if they reproach me,
If they reproach me, I'm not keen
Throughout my life, until the dust conceals me.
To heed them. Be it life or grave,
