Indeed, my little son is among the men of the Ḥums.
The sons of Hamasa's men are pure
Noble in lineage and noble in spirit.
Noble blood and spirit endure
ليسhe is not بوجّابquaking الفؤادthe heart نكسa coward
ليس بوجّاب الفؤاد نكس
عتبةʿUtbah بدرa full moon وأبوهand his father شمسa sun
عتبة بدر وأبوه شمس
He is no faint-hearted coward.
No sorrow in their hearts obscure
ʿUtbah is a full moon, and his father is a sun.
Bright moons, their lineage secure
