While we ruled the people and command was ours,
While the froth of men's affairs foams up all round,
suddenly we were commoners among them, serving others.
We in the midst a place of calm have found.
فَأفّso, fie! لِدنياupon a world لاnot يدومُendures نَعيمهاits bliss

So fie upon a world whose bliss does not endure!
What though the joyance of this world decays!
Time and again it turns us about and changes our lot.
It shifts with chance, while firm our order stays.
