مُسلَّمُMusallam للراجينَfor those who hope يُمناهُhis right hand جَنَّةa paradise
مُسلَّمُ للراجينَ يُمناهُ جَنَّة
ونارand a fire علىagainst أعدائِهhis enemies تَتَسَعَّرُblazes
ونار على أعدائِه تَتَسَعَّرُ
Musallam's right hand is a paradise for those who hope,
A paradise promised to the hopeful,
And a fire blazing against his enemies.
And flaming fire for his enemies.
سليلُa descendant of عُبَيْدٍUbayd نَجْلُa son of سالمSalim كَفُّهhis hand
سليلُ عُبَيْدٍ نَجْلُ سالم كَفُّه
لهfor him فيupon رقابnecks الناسِthe people طوقٌa collar مُنَوَّرُradiant
له في رقاب الناسِ طوقٌ مُنَوَّرُ
A scion of Ubayd, a son of Salim, whose hand
Descendant of Ubayd, son of Salem, his palm
Has a radiant collar around people's necks.
Adorns the necks of people like a shining necklace.
كثيرfrequent in ابتسامٍsmiling عندduring نُزْلِthe hospitality for ضيوفهhis guests
كثير ابتسامٍ عند نُزْلِ ضيوفه
وفيand in الروعِfear وضَّاحٍradiant-faced فلاso not يتغيرُhe changes
وفي الروعِ وضَّاحٍ فلا يتغيرُ
He smiles often when hosting his guests,
Always smiling when hosting guests,
And amid fear he is radiant-faced, never changing.
Cheerful and radiant, never changing.
حوىhe gathered خصلَqualities الخيراتِof goodness والذكرِand renown كلِّهِall of it
حوى خصلَ الخيراتِ والذكرِ كلِّهِ
وقدand indeed فَضَحَhe put to shame الطائيَّal-Ta'i منfrom حينthe time when يُذكَرُhe is mentioned
وقد فَضَحَ الطائيَّ من حين يُذكَرُ
He has gathered the qualities of goodness and all renown,
He embodied all the virtues and fame,
And has put al-Ta'i to shame whenever he is mentioned.
Since mentioned, the excelling one shines.
بهthrough him تُعرفare known للجُليَّfor great deeds لهto him يُنْسَبُis ascribed الثَناpraise
به تُعرف للجُليَّ له يُنْسَبُ الثَنا
لهfor him اشتهرbecame renowned الجدوىbounty لهُfor him الذنبُsin يُغْفَرُis forgiven
له اشتهر الجدوى لهُ الذنبُ يُغْفَرُ
Through him great deeds are known; to him praise is ascribed.
Through him the glorious are known, praised is his lineage,
His bounty is renowned; his sin is forgiven.
Through him wrongs are forgiven, for him sins vanish.
حليمٌforbearing رحيمٌmerciful فاضلٌvirtuous متكرِمٌgenerous
حليمٌ رحيمٌ فاضلٌ متكرِمٌ
سحائبُthe clouds of كَفَّيْهِhis two hands علىupon الكُلِeveryone تُمْطِرُrain down
سحائبُ كَفَّيْهِ على الكُلِ تُمْطِرُ
Forbearing, merciful, virtuous, generous,
Clement and merciful, virtuous and generous,
The clouds of his two hands rain upon everyone.
His palms rain clouds over all people.
هوhe الغافريُّal-Ghafiri الأريحيُّthe magnanimous one الذيwho لهhas, for himself
هو الغافريُّ الأريحيُّ الذي له
مواهبُgifts لاnot تُحصىare counted علىupon الخَلْقcreation تُنْشَرُare spread
مواهبُ لا تُحصى على الخَلْق تُنْشَرُ
He is al-Ghafiri, the magnanimous one, whose
He is the Forgiving, the Comforter whom
Countless gifts are spread over all creation.
Endless gifts are spread upon people.
هوhe الملجأthe refuge الساميthe lofty هوhe الكَهَفُthe cave الذيthat
هو الملجأ السامي هو الكَهَفُ الذي
هوhe الموردُthe watering place الصافيthe clear فلاso not يتكدرit grows turbid
هو الموردُ الصافي فلا يتكدر
He is the lofty refuge; he is the cave that
He is the supreme refuge, the cave in which
Is the clear watering place, never turning turbid.
The pure spring, from which no impurity flows.
وأيامُهُand his days غرّradiant يُضِئgives light ابتسامُهاtheir smile
وأيامُهُ غرّ يُضِئ ابتسامُها
بطلعتهِwith his countenance الدنياthe world تَنُورُgrows bright وتزهرand blossoms
بطلعتهِ الدنيا تَنُورُ وتزهر
And his days are radiant; their smile gives light,
His days are eves that with his smile
With his countenance the world grows bright and blossoms.
Illuminate, and the world flowers and glows.
