I have been afflicted with a love that has taken firm hold in my bosom.

And I have grown bent, my body gaunt.

And I do not love beautiful women or union with them.

And my heart dwells in the Commentary on al-Istiqāmah.

It keeps me company away from home, in my distress.

And its chapters and questions delight me.
