    I offer greetings as many as the date palms and trees,

    And as many as the stones the dusty earth contains,

    And equal in measure to every lofty height and the seas combined,

    And as many as the raindrops, grains of sand, and hairs.

    وشمُّسها يُرجعُ العُميان بالبَصَرِ

    And the waft of its fragrance fills the horizons;

    And its sun restores sight to the blind.

    To the prince, Sultan's young son, our lord,

    Lord of lofty honors, and lord of glory and esteem.

    The scion of Ahmad's son—his countenance has adorned

    My world, which became a maiden again after old age.

    This is Sa'id, whose fingertips pour down

    A rain of deep-red gold or pearls.

    وجودُهُ للورى يُغْني عن المَطَرِ

    A pivot upon whom the millstone of battle turns;

    And his generosity frees humankind from any need for rain.

    He keeps company with books while the celestial spheres journey

    At night, while the eyelids wear wakefulness as kohl.

    And a deep sea journeyed by night, watering his home, which became

    Green, resplendent with blossoms and flowers.
