A slender, languid-eyed beloved keeps me company

At Sakhif, beside those little tamarisks and rimth shrubs.

And he smiles, revealing pearls and the wine of his saliva,

Fair of face, wearing two sashes and ear pendants.

And oh, would that after death we might be enfolded

By the folds of the earth’s expanses, deep within the grave—

Both safe, with no fear there of our watcher,

And we might hasten together on the Day of Rising and Resurrection.
