إلى متى الإنسان لا يرعوي
عنfrom التماديpersisting فيin جهالاتهِhis follies
عن التمادي في جهالاتهِ
How long will man fail to desist
For how long shall man not refrain
From persisting in his follies?
From going too far in his ignorance
يرىhe sees وجودَexistence الخلقcreation منfor أجلهِhis sake
يرى وجودَ الخلق من أجلهِ
والكونَand the universe مخلوقاًcreated لمرضاتهfor his pleasure
والكونَ مخلوقاً لمرضاته
He thinks creation exists for his sake,
He sees all creation made just for him
And the universe was created for his pleasure.
And the universe created for his pleasure
وهوwhile he كليلfeeble العزمresolve أوهَىfrailest القوىpowers
وهو كليل العزم أوهَى القوى
مستضعفfeeble الهمةaspiration فيin ذاتهِhis own self
مستضعف الهمة في ذاتهِ
Yet he is feeble in resolve, frailest in strength,
Yet he is of feeble will and weakened strength
Weak-willed in his very being;
Of little ambition within himself
وبعضand some of ماwhat يرميهhe accuses it بالضعفof weakness قدmay
وبعض ما يرميه بالضعف قد
يعجزhe is unable حتماًcertainly عنfrom مباراتهmatching it
يعجز حتماً عن مباراته
Yet some of what he calls weak, he may
And some that he sees as weak
Indeed be unable to match.
Would surely surpass him in contest
