مولاي كامل قد جاد الزمانُ لهُ
ببنتwith a daughter of فكرthought تضاهيrivaling طلعةَthe countenance of القمرِthe moon
ببنت فكر تضاهي طلعةَ القمرِ
My lord Kamil—time has bestowed upon him
My perfection is complete, time has granted him
a daughter of thought rivaling the moon’s countenance.
A daughter with intellect rivaling the moon's radiance
بكرٌa virgin أتتshe came منكfrom you تختالُswaying proudly الدلالَcoquetry وماand not
بكرٌ أتت منك تختالُ الدلالَ وما
أمستshe has been لغيركَto anyone but you تبدوappearing فيin سوىanything other than الأزرِthe wraps
أمست لغيركَ تبدو في سوى الأزرِ
A virgin came from you, swaying coquettishly; nor
An unmarried girl from you who walks with coquetry, she has not
has she appeared before anyone but you except in wraps.
Shown herself to any but you behind the veil
فامنحْهُso grant him منكfrom you قبولاًacceptance كيso that أنالI may gain بهاthrough her
فامنحْهُ منك قبولاً كي أنال بها
حسنَfine الثناءِpraise دواماًforever سائرَall العصُرِthe ages
حسنَ الثناءِ دواماً سائرَ العصُرِ
So grant him your acceptance, that through her I may gain
So grant him your acceptance that I may gain through her
fine praise forever, throughout all the ages.
