ولَرُبّ نزّاع لأمرٍ راقه

ولَرُبّ نزّاع لأمرٍ راقه

منه البداية لم يرقْه المنتهى

منه البداية لم يرقْه المنتهى

And many a man yearning for something was pleased

For many a conflict over a matter, its beginning pleased him,

by its beginning, though its end did not please him.

But its end did not please him.
