أباحَ القلبُ فيه عن تراضي
O judge of love, what is the ruling concerning one
O judge of love, what is the rule for one
whose heart granted leave by mutual consent,
Whose heart has permitted without consent?
فسلّthen drew مضارعُone rivaling القمرينthe two moons لحظاًa glance
فسلّ مضارعُ القمرين لحظاً
عليهagainst him معْرباًexpressing أمرthe command of المواضيthe keen-edged swords
عليه معْرباً أمر المواضي
when one who rivals the two moons drew a glance
Ask the rival of the two moons for a moment
against him, proclaiming the command of keen-edged swords?
Passing by him, interpreting the matter of the watering places.
فهلso, is there جرحىthose wounded by العيونthe eyes لهاfor them قصاصٌretribution
فهل جرحى العيون لها قصاصٌ
بحكمكunder your judgment فاقضthen decree ليfor me ماwhatever أنتyou قاضwill decree
بحكمك فاقض لي ما أنت قاض
Do those wounded by eyes have a right to retribution
So is there retaliation for the wounded eyes
under your judgment? Then decree for me whatever you will.
By your judgement? Then judge for me what you judge.
