ولقدand indeed ذكرتكَI remembered you والرياحُand the winds عواصفٌraging
ولقد ذكرتكَ والرياحُ عواصفٌ
والبحرُand the sea يعلوrises بالسفينwith the ships ويهبطُand falls
والبحرُ يعلو بالسفين ويهبطُ
And indeed I remembered you while the winds were raging,
I remembered you as the winds raged
and the sea rose and fell with the ships.
And the sea rose with the ship and sank
فكأنماso it is as though هيthey (the ships) أنتyou حينwhen تسيرyou walk فيin
فكأنما هي أنت حين تسير في
جَوزmiddle of الطريقِthe road مهرولاًhurrying تتخبطُyou stumble about
جَوز الطريقِ مهرولاً تتخبطُ
So they seemed like you when you walk in
As if it were you walking down
the middle of the road, hurrying and stumbling about.
