أحقًّا فارق الدنيا شفيق

أحقًّا فارق الدنيا شفيق

وغيب جسمه هذا المضيقُ

وغيب جسمه هذا المضيقُ

Has Shafiq truly departed this world?

Indeed, Shafiq has left this world

And has this narrow place concealed his body?

And his body disappeared from this strait

لنن تكُنّ الحقيقةَ ما ذكرتمُ

لنن تكُنّ الحقيقةَ ما ذكرتمُ

فإمساكَ المدامعِ لا يليقُ

فإمساكَ المدامعِ لا يليقُ

If the truth is what you have said,

But if what you mentioned is not the truth

then holding back tears is unfitting.

Then it's not proper to hold back the tears
