أَلاListen! أَبلِغconvey بَنيthe sons of أَسَدٍAsad رَسولاًa message
أَلا أَبلِغ بَني أَسَدٍ رَسولاً
وَماand not بيin me أَنto أَزُنَّكُمُaccuse you بِغَدرِof treachery
وَما بي أَن أَزُنَّكُمُ بِغَدرِ
Listen: convey a message to the sons of Asad.
Shall I send to the sons of Asad a messenger,
And I have no wish to accuse you of treachery.
Though I have no wish to take you unawares?
فَمَنso whoever لَمdid not يوفِkeep faith بِالجِيرانِwith the neighbors قِدماًof old
فَمَن لَم يوفِ بِالجِيرانِ قِدماً
فَقَدthen indeed أَوفَتkept faith مُعاوِيَةُMuawiyah بنُson of بَكرِBakr
فَقَد أَوفَت مُعاوِيَةُ بنُ بَكرِ
So if anyone failed of old to keep faith with neighbors,
He who does not keep faith with his neighbors
Muawiyah ibn Bakr has indeed kept faith.
Will find that Mu'awiyah, son of Bakr, keeps faith.
