فَكَكتَ عَدِيّاً كُلَّها مِن إِسارِها

فَكَكتَ عَدِيّاً كُلَّها مِن إِسارِها

فَأَفضِل وَشَفِّعني بِقَيسِ اِبنِ جَحدَرِ

فَأَفضِل وَشَفِّعني بِقَيسِ اِبنِ جَحدَرِ

So you freed the tribe of ʿAdī, every last one, from captivity.

You freed all of ʿAdī from their captivity.

Now be generous, and accept my intercession for Qays ibn Jahdar.

So be generous, and accept my intercession for Qays, son of Jaḥdar.

أَبوهُ أَبي وَالأُمَّهاتُ اُمَّهاتُنا

أَبوهُ أَبي وَالأُمَّهاتُ اُمَّهاتُنا

فَأَنعِم فَدَتكَ النَفسُ قَومي وَمَعشَري

فَأَنعِم فَدَتكَ النَفسُ قَومي وَمَعشَري

His father is my father, and his foremothers are ours.

His father is my father, and the mothers are our mothers.

Then grant it—may my soul ransom you!—he is of my people and my clan.

So be gracious—may my soul, my people, and my kin ransom you.
