أَباO father of الخَيبَرِيِّal-Khaybari وَأَنتَand you اِمرُؤٌa man
حَسودُdeeply envious of العَشيرَةِthe clan شَتّامُهاits habitual reviler
O Abu al-Khaybari, you are a man,
Envious of the clan, forever reviling it.
فَماذاso what أَرَدتَdid you want إِلىwith رِمَّةٍa decayed corpse
بَدَوِّيَّةٍBedouin صَخِبٍclamorous هامُهاits owls
What, then, did you want with a decayed corpse,
A Bedouin's, whose owls cry aloud?
تُبَغّيyou seek أَذاهاits harm وَإِعسارَهاand its impoverishment
وَحَولَكَand around you غَوثٌGhawth وَأَنعامُهاand its livestock
You seek to harm it and impoverish it,
While Ghawth and its livestock are around you.
وَإِنّاand indeed we لَنُطعِمُwe surely feed أَضيافَناour guests
مِنَfrom الكومِthe high-humped she-camels بِالسَيفِwith the sword نَعتامُهاwe choose their best
And we do indeed feed our guests
From high-humped she-camels, choosing their best with the sword.
