فَمَنso whoever يَكُis بَينَbetween هُذَيلِHudhayl الخَناfoulness
فَمَن يَكُ بَينَ هُذَيلِ الخَنا
وَبَينَand between ثُمالَةَThumalah لاnot يَنزِعِwithdraws
وَبَينَ ثُمالَةَ لا يَنزِعِ
So whoever is between foul Hudhayl
Who will stand between Hudhayl and Thanumah
and Thumalah will not withdraw.
And between a people who do not desist
صِغارُsmall الجَماجِمِthe skulls ثُطُّscant اللِحىthe beards
صِغارُ الجَماجِمِ ثُطُّ اللِحى
كَأَنَّهُمُas though they were القَملُlice بِالبَلقَعِon the barren plain
كَأَنَّهُمُ القَملُ بِالبَلقَعِ
Small of skull and scant of beard,
The small-headed with shaggy beards
as though they were lice on a barren plain.
As though they were lice on a garment
إِذاwhen وَرَدَcame to water الناسُthe people حَوضَpool الرَسولِthe Messenger
إِذا وَرَدَ الناسُ حَوضَ الرَسولِ
ذَيدَتwas driven away هُذَيلُHudhayl عَنِfrom المَشرَعِthe watering place
ذَيدَت هُذَيلُ عَنِ المَشرَعِ
When the people come to the Messenger’s pool,
When people come to the Prophet's pool
Hudhayl will be driven away from the watering place.
Hudhayl will shy from the open door
