أَلا أَبلِغ أَبا سُفيانَ عَنّي

أَلا أَبلِغ أَبا سُفيانَ عَنّي

فَإِنَّ اللُؤمَ مَعدِنُهُ حَراكا

فَإِنَّ اللُؤمَ مَعدِنُهُ حَراكا

Now, tell Abu Sufyan on my behalf:

Shall I not inform Abu Sufyan from me

For baseness has its home in your precincts.

That cowardice is his abode of unrest

تُسامي عُصبَةً مِن فَرعِ فِهرٍ

تُسامي عُصبَةً مِن فَرعِ فِهرٍ

وَقَد أَعيَت مَساعيهِم أَباكا

وَقَد أَعيَت مَساعيهِم أَباكا

You vie with a band from Fihr's noble branch,

They lord over a group from a worthless branch

Yet their exploits have already proved beyond your father.

And their efforts against us have wearied Abuka

ذُؤابَةُ هاشِمٍ وَالفَرعُ مِنهُم

ذُؤابَةُ هاشِمٍ وَالفَرعُ مِنهُم

وَقَد قَصُرَت عَنِ العَليا يَداكا

وَقَد قَصُرَت عَنِ العَليا يَداكا

Hashim's crest and lofty branch are among them,

The family of Hashim and their offshoot

Yet your two hands have fallen short of the heights.

Your hands have fallen short of the highest goals

أَلَسنا مَعشَراً نَصَروا وَآوَوا

أَلَسنا مَعشَراً نَصَروا وَآوَوا

وَخَصَّهُمُ المَليكُ بِفَضلِ ذاكا

وَخَصَّهُمُ المَليكُ بِفَضلِ ذاكا

Are we not a people who gave aid and shelter,

Are we not a group who gave victory and refuge

And whom the Sovereign singled out for that honor?

And the King graced them with that special favor

هُمُ صَدَقوا بِبَطنِ الشِعبِ ضَرباً

هُمُ صَدَقوا بِبَطنِ الشِعبِ ضَرباً

وَطَعناً في نُحورِكُمُ دِراكا

وَطَعناً في نُحورِكُمُ دِراكا

They struck in earnest in the hollow of the ravine,

They were true in the valley striking with swords

And thrust into your throats in swift succession.

And stabbing your chests while charging on horse

رَسولُ اللَهِ وَالأَبطالُ مِنّا

رَسولُ اللَهِ وَالأَبطالُ مِنّا

وَما تَحمي لَدى هَيجٍ حِماكا

وَما تَحمي لَدى هَيجٍ حِماكا

God's Messenger and the champions are among us,

The Messenger of God and the heroes among us

Yet you do not defend your own ground when battle rages.

You have no protection against our onslaught
