إِنَّindeed أَباكَyour father الرَذلَthe vile one كانَwas لِصِغرَةٍfor abasement
وَكانَand was أَبوكَyour father التَيسُthe he-goat شاةًa ewe عَزوزاhard to milk
Indeed, your vile father was of lowly standing.
Your worthless father was once a little man
And your father, the he-goat, was a ewe hard to milk.
And your father the ram was once a feeble sheep
وَكانَand was ذَليلاًabject مِنfrom طَريدٍan outcast مُلَعَّنٍaccursed
فَسَمَّوهُso they named him مِنfrom بَعدِafter الذَليلِthe abject one عَزيزاAziz ('mighty')
And he was abject, an accursed outcast.
He was once a wretch, despised and cursed
So they named him Aziz ('Mighty') after he had been abject.
Yet after such meekness he was called mighty

The Banu Nawfal are people of generosity and bounty.
The generous tribe of Bani Nawfal
So they sheltered you from poverty and provided for the old woman.
Sheltered you in poverty and aided the aged
