لَقَدindeed شَقِيَتsuffered كَعبٌKaʿb جَميعاًall together وَعامِرٌand ʿĀmir
لَقَد شَقِيَت كَعبٌ جَميعاً وَعامِرٌ
بِأَسيافِناby our swords يَومَon the day اِلتَقَيناwe met عَلىat بَدرِBadr
بِأَسيافِنا يَومَ اِلتَقَينا عَلى بَدرِ
Indeed, Kaʿb, one and all, and ʿĀmir came to grief
Ka'b and 'Amir were both brought low,
by our swords on the day we met at Badr.

قَتَلناهُمُwe killed them قَتلَthe killing of الكِلابِthe dogs فَلَمso did not نَدَعwe leave
قَتَلناهُمُ قَتلَ الكِلابِ فَلَم نَدَع
لَهُمfor them فيamong جَميعِall الناسِpeople ياO صاحِfriend مِنof فَخرِpride
لَهُم في جَميعِ الناسِ يا صاحِ مِن فَخرِ
We slew them as dogs are slain, and left no
We slaughtered them like dogs, leaving
pride for them among all people, my friend.
No man among them cause for boasting.
