إِن سَرَّكَ الغَدرُ صِرفاً لا مِزاجَ لَهُ

إِن سَرَّكَ الغَدرُ صِرفاً لا مِزاجَ لَهُ

فَأتِ الرَجيعَ وَسَل عَن دارِ لِحيانِ

فَأتِ الرَجيعَ وَسَل عَن دارِ لِحيانِ

If you delight in pure, unadulterated treachery,

If treachery delights you, with no compromise,

Then go to al-Rajīʿ and ask about the abode of Liḥyān.

Then come to Al-Raji' and ask after Lihyan's abode.

قَومٌ تَواصَوا بِأَكلِ الجارِ كُلُّهُمُ

قَومٌ تَواصَوا بِأَكلِ الجارِ كُلُّهُمُ

فَخَيرُهُم رَجُلاً وَالتَيسُ مِثلانِ

فَخَيرُهُم رَجُلاً وَالتَيسُ مِثلانِ

A people who all urged one another to devour their neighbor;

A people conspired to devour their neighbor whole,

So their best man and a billy goat are equals.

Among them, one man was best, and two goats alike.

لَو يَنطِقُ التَيسُ ذو الخُصَينِ وَسطَهُمُ

لَو يَنطِقُ التَيسُ ذو الخُصَينِ وَسطَهُمُ

لَكانَ ذا شَرَفٍ فيهِم وَذا شانِ

لَكانَ ذا شَرَفٍ فيهِم وَذا شانِ

If the billy goat with its two testicles could speak among them,

If the two-balled goat could speak among them

It would have honor and standing among them.

He would have had glory and stature among them.
