If baseness had a lineage, it would be a slave,
If cowardice could be ascribed, he’d be
Ugly-faced and one-eyed, from Thaqif.
A slave, ugly-faced, blind in one eye from Thaqif;
تَرَكتَyou abandoned الدينَreligion وَالإيمانَand faith جَهلاًout of ignorance
تَرَكتَ الدينَ وَالإيمانَ جَهلاً
غَداةَon the morning لَقيتَyou met صاحِبَةَthe woman with النَصيفِthe veil
غَداةَ لَقيتَ صاحِبَةَ النَصيفِ
You abandoned religion and faith out of ignorance
You abandoned faith and religion in ignorance
On the morning you met the woman with the veil.
The next morning after meeting the owner of the cloak;
وَراجَعتَand you returned to الصِباyouthful passion وَذَكَرتَand you recalled لَهواًpleasure
وَراجَعتَ الصِبا وَذَكَرتَ لَهواً

مِنَ الأَحشاءِ وَالخَصرِ اللَطيفِ
And you returned to youthful passion and recalled pleasure
And you returned to youth and recalled in vain desire
Of the belly and the slender waist.
Of the belly and the delicate waist.
